Badajoz, situated along Spain's south-western border with Portugal, has resumed scheduled commercial operations following a six-month break.

Air Nostrum (YW, Valencia Manises) last week resumed daily services to Madrid Barajas alongside a 4x weekly service to Barcelona El Prat with plans to open up new routes to Ibiza (2x weekly) and Palma de Mallorca (4x weekly) between July 22 and September 4. The service operates under the Iberia Regional banner.

Local government is able to subsidize the route to the tune of EUR2.4 million (USD2.6 million) per annum by reclassifying the contract as a regional advertising and tourism promotion agreement which includes the provision of flights. As such, it hopes that next year the routes can be officially classified as Public Service Obligation (PSO) routes which would then open them up to funding from the Madrid government.
