Thai Airways International (TG, Bangkok Suvarnabhumi) has issued a statement saying it would like to "clarify that the company has discussed with all Thai operated airlines in the country in considering strategies for Thailand’s aviation industry in supporting transportation and tourism".

The Thai national carrier further said in the filing that it would not have any interest in further investments in other Thai carriers such as Thai AirAsia (FD, Bangkok Don Mueang) at this time and would properly notify the Stock Exchange of Thailand as soon as possible in case that position would change.

Earlier this week, Thai Airways was linked to a proposed purchase of a 20% stake in AirAsia (AK, Kuala Lumpur International)'s Thai subsidiary with the Bangkok Post reporting that Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripita would have suggested a meeting between the two carriers on the subject.
