Zagros Airlines (Iran) (IZG, Abadan) chief executive Hushang Seddiq has told Eranico news agency earlier on March 27, that his carrier has reached a preliminary agreement with Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer (EMB, São José dos Campos Professor Urbano Ernesto Stumpf) regarding an order for 20 aircraft with "135 seats".

Seddiq said that the order would still be subject to approval by the United States given the remaining sanctions still in place against Iran without giving further details on why such approval was required.

Zagros currently operates one A319-100, ten A320-200s, five MD-82s and three MD-83s. Some of its Airbus aircraft are damp-leased from Ukrainian operator Khors Aircompany (Kyiv Boryspil).

Given 135 seats were mentioned by Seddiq, the orders if finalized would likely have to be for E195s or EMB-195-E2s.
