Swiss (LX, Zurich) says it expects to take delivery of its first Bombardier Aerospace CSeries aircraft – a A220-100 – at the end of June with revenue operations scheduled to begin on July 15.

Leased from Swiss Global Air Lines (Zurich), the twinjet's maiden commercial route will be Zurich-Paris CDG followed by Madrid Barajas, Prague Václav Havel, and Budapest. These will, in turn, be followed by Warsaw Chopin and Brussels National at the end of August, and by Nice, Stuttgart Manfred Rommel, Hannover, Milan Malpensa, Florence Peretola and Bucharest Henri Coanda in September. London City CSeries flights are expected to launch during the first quarter of next year.

The Lufthansa (LH, Frankfurt International) subsidiary has a total of twenty CS100s and ten A220-300s on firm order from Bombardier with options for an additional thirty CS100s. In all, the aircraft will be used to gradually replace Swiss's ageing fleet of ARJ-100s.
