flynas (XY, Riyadh) chief executive Paul Byrne says the Saudi LCC has ruled out Bombardier Aerospace's C Series from the list of contenders for its upcoming narrowbody fleet order.

Speaking to Reuters, Byrne said flynas did not want to be the A220-300's "launch customer" adding that attention was now on Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) and Boeing (BOE, Washington National) products. flynas has already issued RFPs to either manufacturer for sixty firm order aircraft with options for forty more, he added.

flynas operates an all-Airbus fleet of twenty-six A320-200s on flights to thirty destinations in Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Sudan. Through its flynas Hajj & Umrah unit, the carrier also operates both domestic and international pilgrimage charter flights using wet-leased widebody aircraft exclusively.
