Qantas Freight (Sydney Kingsford Smith) has announced the establishment of a fleet of six freighters to operate domestic Australian routes for and on behalf of Australia Post and its StarTrack unit.

Qantas Freight said in a statement that the fleet will constitute one B737-400(F) (an additional aircraft to be operated by Express Freighters Australia (QE, Sydney Kingsford Smith), Qantas Freight’s wholly-owned freighter management subsidiary) and two B737-300(F)s and three BAe 146-300(QT)s (all five of which are part of the existing Qantas Freight fleet).

Operations will cover nine destinations across the east and west coast of Australia and will launch in July this year.

The network is part of a five-year contract, valued at more than AUD500 million (USD381 million), signed last year for the transport of Australia Post’s domestic mail, parcels and Express Post until mid-2020.
