Hong Kong Airlines (HX, Hong Kong International) has been granted its Foreign Air Carriers Permit and route exemption from the US Department of Transportation (DOT) following an application lodged late last year.

As it stands, the HNA Group carrier is now licensed to operate: scheduled flights ferrying persons, property, and mail from Hong Kong via intermediate points, to a point or points in the United States, and beyond; and Charter foreign air transportation of persons, property, and mail between Hong Kong and the United States.

Hong Kong Airlines said in its original application that it intended to operate a 4x weekly Hong Kong International-Saipan return service using A330-200 equipment beginning later this quarter.

Partner carrier HK Express (UO, Hong Kong International) has also applied for its own FACP amid plans to start its own 2x weekly services to each of Saipan and Guam International later this quarter using A320-200 equipment.
