Garuda Indonesia (GA, Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta) and Saudia (SV, Jeddah International) have been awarded Indonesian government contracts to conduct Hajj flights this year.

Officials in Indonesia's General Directorate of Hajj and Umrah in the Ministry of Religious Affairs officials told the Republika newspaper that the contracts will be signed in June this year.

In January, Garuda CEO Arif Wibowo announced plans to establish a new subsidiary to market and charter aircraft to Saudi Arabia during the Hajj and Umrah periods the former of which falls in September this year.
