As part of its Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings, Republic Airways Holdings has announced plans to close its flagship C-Check MRO facility at Columbus John Glenn, OH with the loss of 161 jobs.

In a letter to staff, the firm said the closure was scheduled to come into effect from June 20 or within 14 days of that date. Those affected have already been offered transfer opportunities.

Aside from maintenance operations, Columbus also is an important hub for Republic Airlines (Indianapolis International) and Shuttle America (Fort Wayne International) which carry out numerous daily flights for and on behalf of United Express, American Eagle, and Delta Connection.
