Air Wisconsin (ZW, Appleton Outgamie County Regional) will layoff fifty-three of its Milwaukee General Mitchell staff with effect from August 17. A circular sent to employees said the loss of a United Airlines (UA, Chicago O'Hare) ground-handling contract had triggered the closure.

The carrier says it will, however, continue to maintain its MRO base at the airport which supports American Airlines operations. Said operations have not been affected by the loss of the United contract.

Air Wisconsin operates American Eagle services on behalf of American Airlines (AA, Dallas/Fort Worth) using a fleet of sixty-nine CRJ200s.
