Wamos Air (EB, Madrid Barajas) has taken delivery of its first A330 widebody jet following the arrival of EC-MJS (cn 265) at Madrid Barajas from Teruel late last week.

The A330-200 will be joined by a second of the type, currently 9M-AZL (cn 261) with Malaysia's Eaglexpress Air Charter (Kuala Lumpur International), later in the year.

The Spanish leisure and charter specialist plans to use the twinjets to gradually replace its larger B747-400s by 2019.

At present, three of Wamos Air's five B747-400s are used on regular flights from Madrid Barajas to Cancún, Caracas Simón Bolivar, and Punta Cana. Of the other two, EC-LNA (msn 26346) is wet-leased to Conviasa (V0, Caracas Simón Bolivar) while EC-MDS (msn 26910) is in service with Royal Air Maroc (AT, Casablanca Mohamed V).

Two aircraft will operate Hajj charter flights for Saudia (SV, Jeddah International) between August and October with a third joining them from August through to December.
