Cargolux (CV, Luxembourg) may be considering setting up an international hub in North America to cater to nascent subsidiary Cargolux China's planned entry into the transpacific market later next year. The Luxembourg-based freight specialist already maintains hubs at Luxembourg and Zhengzhou.

According to CargoFacts, Cargolux China (Zhengzhou) has applied to the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) for permission to serve the following routes:

Cargolux will hold a 35% stake in Cargolux China with Henan Civil Aviation Development and Investment Co. (HNCA) holding 49%, Xin Gang Investment & Development Co., Ltd of the Zhengzhou Airport Comprehensive Economic Experimental Zone holding 8%, and Zhengzhou airport operator, Henan Airport Group Co., Ltd, holding the remaining 8%.

It is currently undergoing certification and is planning to launch operations in early 2017 using a fleet of B747 freighters which may include B747-8(F)s.
