Karl Ulrich Garnadt, the Chief Executive Officer of Eurowings & Aviation Services at parent Lufthansa (LH, Frankfurt International), says Eurowings (EW, Düsseldorf) is considering starting services out of Munich, a Lufthansa (LH, Frankfurt International) stronghold hub.

"We're speaking about it internally," he was quoted by German business paper, WirtschaftsWoche. "It's an option for 2017."

The LCC unit of Lufthansa Group, Eurowings operates regional as well as longhaul budget flights from its bases at Berlin Tegel, Cologne/Bonn, Dortmund, Düsseldorf, Hamburg Helmut Schmidt, Hannover and Stuttgart Manfred Rommel. Eurowings Europe (Austria) (E2, Vienna), the firm's Austrian subsidiary, recently secured its AOC and is in the process of developing Vienna into a regional hub.
