Arctic Aviation Assets (AAA), the leasing wing of Norwegian (Oslo Gardermoen), has converted part of an existing order with Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) for 100 A320neo into the larger A321neo(LR) variant.

Announced during the ongoing the 2016 Farnborough International Airshow, the change affects thirty aircraft. As such, Norwegian will operate the type with eight scheduled to be delivered in 2019, and the remainder due over the following two years.

The A321neo(LR) ("LR" - Long Range) will be able to accommodate up to approximately 220 passengers on flights between the US East Coast and Europe, and between Scandinavia and parts of Asia, South America, and Europe.

“I am very pleased with this new Airbus order," Norwegian CEO Bjørn Kjos said. "The new medium-range aircraft available from 2019 fits really well with our global expansion plans and future long-haul network, both in terms of size, range and fuel efficiency."

At present, the LCC's owned fleet is an all-Boeing (BOE, Washington National) operation entailing 101 B737-800s, eight B787-8s, and two B787-9s spread across its mainline Norwegian operation as well as its Norwegian Air International (Dublin International) and Norwegian UK (London Gatwick) subsidiaries.
