LADE - Líneas Aéreas del Estado (Buenos Aires Jorge Newbery) is planning to begin commercial flights to Marambio base, a permanent, all year-round Argentine Antarctic base, in January 2018.

The Argentine Ministry of Defense has confirmed it will equip the airfield to allow civilian aircraft to operate there. In addition, it will also purchase unspecified aircraft for LADE, a unit of the Fuerza Aérea Argentina (FAG, Buenos Aires El Palomar), to offer summer time sightseeing flights.

Currently, Marambio sports a 1,260m-long compacted earth runway. It is one of thirteen scientific research bases Argentina maintains in Antarctica.
