Allegiant Air (G4, Las Vegas Harry Reid) has signed a firm order agreement with Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) for the purchase of twelve A320-200 (sl)s. The 186-seater aircraft, powered by CFM International CFM56-5B engines, are scheduled to be delivered between 2017 and 2018.

"With this new transaction, we now have seventy-seven Airbus aircraft either in service or under contract for future delivery. This puts us closer to our goal of having ninety to 100 Airbus aircraft in service by mid-2019 and concurrently retiring our MD-80 fleet. Previously we announced a retirement timeframe of the fall of 2020," Maurice J. Gallagher, Jr., chairman and CEO of Allegiant Travel Company, said. "While we have historically purchased used aircraft, these new A320s will be a small component of our Airbus aircraft fleet in 2019."

Currently, Allegiant operates fifteen A319-100s, sixteen A320-200s, five B757-200s, forty-three MD-83s, and six MD-88s to 117 destinations across the United States.
