The State Aviation Administration of Ukraine (SAAU) says it has fined YanAir (YE, Kyiv Igor Sikorsky) UAH153,000 (USD6,164) for failing to comply with passenger rights legislation governing flight delays and/or cancellations.

The SAAU instituted an audit of the airline on July 18 after YanAir's regular and chartered flights to Bulgaria, Turkey, and Cyprus suffered severe disruptions and delays owing to unspecified issues with its fleet. Following the chaos, several passengers wrote to the SAAU informing it of their neglect at the hands of the airline for the duration of the delays.

As such, the SAAU says it also recorded eighteen instances of operational violations concerning aircraft maintenance all of which it expects to be addressed within the next thirty days.
