La Compagnie (B0, Paris Orly) has announced that effective Sunday, September 25, it will be suspending its London Luton-New York Newark flights on account of the Brexit vote's impact on the transatlantic market.

In a statement, the premium-oriented carrier said the route had been severely affected by what it termed was the 'new economic climate in Europe, fuelled by Brexit.'

“We are the firmest believers in the UK’s unique market position, hence the decision to invest heavily in our London route for the past sixteen months," Frantz Yvelin, founder and CEO of La Compagnie, said. "Meanwhile, the result of the EU referendum has created an unprecedented level of legal and economic uncertainty for airlines that service Great Britain. Hence, our decision to accelerate development on our Paris–New York route where loads are already 80%+ as we recognize the increasing market demand in both the corporate and leisure segment.”

As such, La Compagnie says it will now add a second daily service to its strongly-performing Paris CDG-Newark service next month.

Any passengers who have booked for the London route after the September cut-off date will have the option of either asking for a full refund or have the option of rebooking onto the Paris CDG–Newark route free of charge.

La Compagnie's flights are operated on-board a pair of B757-200s (leased from Icelandair (FI, Reykjavik Keflavik) and AerCap) which feature seventy-four premium-class seats each.
