Aeroflot Group's board has voted in favour of transferring all purchase rights and obligations for twenty-two B787 Family aircraft to local Russian lessor, Avia Capital Services.
According to TASS, the lessor is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Russia's Rostec state corporation.
Since the B787 order with Boeing (BOE, Washington National) was announced back in 2007, it has proven a headache for the Russian operator. Not only did the B787-8's early teething problems delay its Entry-Into-Service, but the imposition of US and EU-sponsored sanctions in 2014 has also severely curtailed Russian demand for foreign travel.
As a result, the delivery of the first Dreamliners has been put back several times the latest being from the period 2016-2019 to 2017-2019.
