Allegiant Air (G4, Las Vegas Harry Reid) has announced it will shift its Akron Regional operations to Cleveland Hopkins during the first quarter of next year.

Jude Bricker, Allegiant's Chief Operating Officer (COO), said in a statement that the shift away from southeast Ohio would allow the Nevadan budget carrier to boost its presence in the state's northeast.

"We're very excited to announce this major growth in northeast Ohio, a region that has demanded more low-cost, nonstop service to the wonderful vacation destinations we serve," he said.

The shift is expected to begin on February 15, 2017 with St. Petersburg/Clearwater first followed by Orlando Sanford, Fort Lauderdale International, Punta Gorda, FL, and Savannah International on February 16. Seasonal Myrtle Beach International flights will transition on April 13. To mark the occasion, a further four destinations will be rolled out from February 16 including: Jacksonville International, FL, Austin-Bergstrom International, New Orleans International, and Phoenix Williams Gateway.
