Go Fly Airlines (St. Lucia Vigie) is a St. Lucia-based start-up looking to offer inter-island flights using a fleet of Cessna (single turboprop) 208B Grand Caravans.
Mario Reyes, Go Fly's founder, told HTS St. Lucia TV in an interview that although the start-up currently has one Caravan on its books, it is looking for investors to acquire a further four. Once in place, the aircraft will be used to offer regular commuter flights between St. Lucia, Dominica, Martinique, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, and Grenada.
He does note, however, that given that the Caravan is a single-prop aircraft, regional regulatory authorities in the region may be hesitant to give the service the go-ahead given the distances over water involved.
“We are looking to our evaluation right now and after that we would be presenting to the regulatory authority the proposal and see how it goes from there. Everything depends on the regulatory authority,” he said.
The project is expected to garner support from the St. Lucian government after Prime Minister Al Chastanet earlier this month said plans were already in motion to open the Caribbean island's skies up to more operators given growing dissatisfaction with LIAT (Antigua and Barbuda) (Antigua).
