AirX Charter (AX, Malta International) has applied to the US Department of Transportation (DOT) for exemption authority as well as a Foreign Air Carrier Permit (FACP).

The Maltese VIP charter specialist is seeking permission to operate charter flights ferrying persons, property and mail from any point or points behind any member state of the European Union, via any point or points in any member state and via intermediate points to any point or points in the United States and beyond. It intends to use "large aircraft" for its proposed services.

Air X Charter recently took delivery of its first widebody aircraft, a VIP-configured A340-300 featuring 100 lie-flat seats and inflight Wi-fi. It also operates three B737-500s, four Challenger 850s, and three Embraer (EMB, São José dos Campos Professor Urbano Ernesto Stumpf) Legacy 600s and will shortly add a maiden B737-300(F).
