Toowoomba Wellcamp will see its first international operations later this quarter when Cathay Pacific (CX, Hong Kong International) launches a Hong Kong International-Melbourne Tullamarine-Brisbane West Wellcamp-Hong Kong service on November 21.

The weekly flight will operate on-board B747-8(F) equipment.

“The service will meet growing demand to move a wide range of commodities from southern Queensland and its catchment area to key markets in Asia, Europe and North America. With growing demand from Mainland China for Australia’s agricultural products, we are confident our service will provide local businesses with a competitive advantage as the benefits of the new China-Australia Free Trade Agreement increase," Cathay Pacific said.

Opened in 2014, privately-funded Brisbane West Wellcamp is one of Australia’s biggest greenfield airport development projects. It is currently served by Qantas (QF, Sydney Kingsford Smith), Airnorth (Australia) (TL, Darwin), and Rex - Regional Express (ZL, Wagga Wagga).
