The Ukrainian government has issued fines totaling UAH721.236 million hryvnia (USD28.25 million) to Russian airlines carrying out commercial services to Simferopol.

Ukraine has refused to recognize Russian jurisdiction over the Crimea following the latter's unilateral annexation of the province in 2014. As such, according to Interfax, Ukraine has issued over 5,000 fines to Russian airlines for serving Simferopol, none of which have ever been paid.

Known scheduled carriers that currently serve the Black Sea resort town include: Aeroflot (through Rossiya); Alrosa Aviakompania; Orenburzhye Airlines; Red Wings Airlines; Globus; Ural Airlines; VIM Airlines; and Yamal Airlines.

Kiev has demanded Moscow stop all flights to Simferopol as one of its pre-conditions for talks concerning the resumption of flights between Ukraine and Russia.
