TUI fly (Germany) (X3, Hannover) will return to Hamburg Helmut Schmidt later next year an airline spokesman has confirmed to German aviation portal airliners.de.

Effective May 2017, the leisure operator will base a single B737-800 out of the Hanseatic gateway for use on flights to Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Irakleion, Jerez de la Frontera, Kos Hippocrates, Menorca Mahón, Palma de Mallorca, Rhodes, and Tenerife Sur.

TUIfly pulled out of the Hamburg airport in spring this year citing increased pressure from Low-Cost Carriers such as germanwings (4U, Cologne/Bonn), Eurowings (EW, Düsseldorf), easyJet (London Luton), and Ryanair (FR, Dublin International). However, this return is part of the airline's renewed effort to strengthen its position in the Northern Germany market.
