Aerolíneas Argentinas (AR, Buenos Aires Jorge Newbery) will withdraw its B737-700s and A340-300s from commercial service in 2018 airline Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Isela Constantini has said.
Outlining the carrier's refleeting plans, she told a press conference in Buenos Aires this week that Aerolineas Argentinas' fifteen B737-700s would be gone by the middle of 2018 followed by the A340s which will be gone by the end of the same year.
The -700s will be replaced with a fleet of eleven incoming B737-800s ordered back in 2013. Eight B737 MAX 8s are also expected to join the fleet following a recent order revision.
In terms of replacing the outgoing A340s, Constantini said the airline's board may evaluate a new purchase order.
"We need to decide where to go after the retirement of the A340s," she was quoted by La Nacion.
Aerolineas Argentinas also operates ten A330-200s, leased from AerCap and Aircastle, with an eleventh due in January next year.
