Juneyao Airlines (Shanghai Hongqiao) has settled on the B787 Family of jets for its widebody aircraft needs. According to Aviation Week, the carrier's order with Boeing (BOE, Washington National) entails five firm and five optional B787-9s with deliveries of the first three due in 2018.

Last month, Chairman Wang Junjin said Juneyao Airlines would seek deliveries to run through to 2020. Once delivered, the aircraft would then be used to expand the carrier's international network.

At present, Juneyao Airlines is an all-Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) carrier operating forty-one A320-200s and fifteen A321-200s on flights across China as well as to Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand, South Korea, Russia, Macau, and Japan. Earlier this month, Juneyao Airlines agreed to lease five A321-200s from BOC Aviation with deliveries scheduled for 2017.
