IranAir (IR, Tehran Mehrabad) and Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) have signed a firm order agreement for 100 aircraft during a ceremony held in Tehran on Thursday, December 22.

The deal, which builds on an initial commitment for 118 aircraft signed in January 2016 in Paris, consists of forty-six A320 Family, thirty-eight A330 Family, and sixteen A350 XWB aircraft. Deliveries will begin in early 2017. Among the aircraft removed from the Paris accord are twelve A380-800s.

"The agreement is subject to US government Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) export licences which were granted in September and November 2016," the European manufacturer said.

As previously reported, the first aircraft to be delivered is A321-200 (sl) EP-IFA (msn 7418) which has already been painted in Iran Air's livery.

Just prior to this announcement, Iran Air's CEO Farhad Parvaresh told local media outlets that Airbus would deliver up to eight aircraft in 2017 alongside ATR - Avions de Transport Régional (EVX, Toulouse Blagnac) which would deliver eight ATR72-600s. It is recalled Iran Air has firm orders for twenty ATR72-600s with twenty additional options to boot.

Earlier this month, Boeing (BOE, Washington National) signed a similar agreement with Iran Air for fifty B737 MAX 8s, fifteen B777-300(ER)s, and fifteen B777-9s. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2018. Of the B777-300(ER)s, six will deliver in 2018 followed by six in 2019 and three in 2020.
