Allegiant Air (G4, Las Vegas Harry Reid) has announced it will open a base at Destin-Fort Walton Beach later this summer.

In a press release, the ULCC said effective May 3, 2017, it would begin rolling out regular services from the Floridian town to Kansas City International, Austin-Bergstrom International, Cleveland Hopkins, Peoria International, Louisville International, Columbus Rickenbacher, OH, Springfield, MO, Indianapolis International, Baltimore Thurgood Marshall, Pittsburgh International, and New York Newark. Existing Allegiant services from the airfield include Belleville, Cincinnati International, Knoxville McGhee Tyson, Las Vegas Harry Reid, Memphis International, and Oklahoma City Will Rogers World.

"Our presence in Florida continues to grow as we announce our largest expansion into a Florida destination in the company's history," said Jude Bricker, Allegiant chief operating officer. "A new base in Destin / Fort Walton Beach will allow us to better serve travelers, including those in Louisville, Kentucky, who we welcome today as a brand new city in our network."

Allegiant also maintains bases at Bellingham, Cincinnati International, Fort Lauderdale International, Las Vegas Harry Reid, Los Angeles International, New Orleans International, Orlando Sanford, Phoenix Williams Gateway, Pittsburgh International, Punta Gorda, FL, and St. Petersburg/Clearwater.
