The soon-to-be-commissioned airport serving Jericoacoara, located in the northeastern Brazilian state of Ceará, will see its maiden commercial air services early in the second quarter of the year Azul Linhas Aéreas Brasileiras (AD, São Paulo Viracopos) has announced.

In a statement, the LCC said it would connect the tourist hotspot with Recife effective April 7. the 4x weekly flight will operate on-board E195 equipment and will be timed to coincide with flights arriving in Recife from Belo Horizonte Tancredo Neves, São Paulo Viracopos, and São Paulo Guarulhos.

The airport is one of two sponsored by a BRL14.4 million (USD4.5 million) fund set up by the Government of the State of Ceará and the Brazilian Ministry of Transport, Ports, and Civil Aviation, to build airports in Aracati and Jericoacoara in Ceará.
