Widerøe (WF, Bodø) has signed a firm order agreement with Embraer (EMB, Sao Jose dos Campos) for up to fifteen E2 Family jets. The Brazilian manufacturer said in a statement the contract consists of three firm ordered EMB190-E2s with purchase rights for twelve further E2 family aircraft including the EMB175-E2, EMB190-E2, and EMB195-E2 variants.

The firm-ordered aircraft, which are scheduled to deliver in 2018, will be configured in a single-class layout with 114 seats.

Given Wideroe's all-Bombardier Aerospace (BBA, Montréal Trudeau) fleet of nineteen Dash 8-100s, seven Dash 8-300s, three Dash 8-200s, and eleven Dash 8-400s, local press reports had speculated the Norwegian carrier could order up to ten A220-100s.

“Our decision to choose the Embraer family of next generation E2 aircraft for our move into jet operations is based on the need for a high quality passenger experience, ease and flexibility of operations, and lowest through life costs," Stein Nilsen, Chief Executive Officer of Widerøe, said.
