SAS Scandinavian Airlines (SK, Copenhagen Kastrup) is looking at both the A320neo from Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) and the B737 MAX from Boeing (BOE, Washington National) as potential replacements for the older B737NextGen aircraft in its fleet.

According to TDN Finans, Chief Financial Officer Göran Jansson said that with retirements, the Scandinavian carrier would not have adequate capacity beyond 2019. As such, options being considered include wet-leases as well as the taking over of deferred order slots that are currently on the market.

The ch-aviation aircraft database shows SAS's B737NextGen fleet currently includes twenty-two B737-600s (average age 18 years), thirty B737-700s (average age 14.4 years), and twenty-eight B737-800s (average age 10.6 years).
