Finnair (AY, Helsinki Vantaa) will start regular international flights out of the northern Finnish resort towns of Kittila and Ivalo during the last quarter of this year.

The carrier said in a statement that from mid-December 2017 until the end of March 2018, it would offer weekly flights to Kittilä from each of Zurich, Frankfurt International, and Paris CDG using a combination of A320 and A321 aircraft. For its part, Ivalo will see a 2x weekly flight from London Gatwick.

Domestic connectivity to Lapland as a whole will also be increased for the duration of the 2017/18 winter season. Additional frequencies from Helsinki Vantaa will be added to Ivalo (four weekly), Kittilä (four weekly), and Kuusamo (one weekly) while three weekly flights will be added to Rovaniemi, bringing its total to thirty weekly frequencies.

In total, Finnair will operate up to fifty-two weekly frequencies from Helsinki to Lapland airports during the peak winter season. With these additions, Finnair will be increasing its total capacity to Lapland airports by 18% compared to the current winter season.
