Norwegian (Oslo Gardermoen) chief executive Bjørn Kjos says the Low Cost Carrier hopes to expand a proposed partnership agreement with Ryanair (FR, Dublin International) to cover other European Union budget airlines.

Last month, Ryanair's CEO Michael O'Leary indicated the agreement could be finalized as early as May of this year. Under it, the Irish LCC would provide regional European feed into Norwegian's longhaul operations which, outside of its Scandinavian hubs at Copenhagen Kastrup, Oslo Gardermoen, and Stockholm Arlanda, also focus on Barcelona El Prat, London Gatwick, and Paris CDG.

“If we can do it with Ryanair, we can cover lots of routes, but we don’t cover all the routes and we should definitely like to do it with easyJet (London Luton) as well,” Kjos told CNN Money in an interview this week. “It could be in the future a low-cost alliance. We’re the only one flying long-haul, so it’s a different structure.”

A spokesman later confirmed that the talks are limited to European operators for the meantime and that US LCCs such as Frontier Airlines (F9, Denver International), Allegiant Air (G4, Las Vegas Harry Reid), and Southwest Airlines (WN, Dallas Love Field) have not yet been approached.
