US President Donald Trump's nominee to be Secretary of the Army, Vincent Viola, is planning to dispose of his majority shareholding in Eastern Air Lines (2009) (Miami International) The New York Times has reported.

US Department of Transportation documents filed in 2015 show Viola's Virtu Financial, Inc. owns 85.07% of the Delware-based firm, VV-DC Eastern Investments, LLC which in turn controls 60% of the Miami-based ACMI/charter operator.

According to the report, the billionaire Wall Street trader's decision to sell is likely linked to his wanting to avoid a conflict of interest should he be confirmed to the Trump cabinet.

Viola is reportedly trying to swap his majority interest in Eastern Air Lines for a smaller stake in Swift Air (United States of America) (Greensboro Piedmont Triad International), an Arizona-based passenger charter operator.
