Norwegian UK (London Gatwick) is planning to begin scheduled passenger operations later this summer Airline Route has reported.

Having secured its Air Operators Certificate (AOC) from the UK Civil Aviation Authority in November 2015, Norwegian UK has operated a single B737-800 and lately, a B787-9, on regular flights for its Norwegian Air International (Dublin International) and Norwegian (Oslo Gardermoen) sister carriers on flights from London Gatwick.

However, according to schedule data, the UK unit of Norwegian (Oslo Gardermoen) plans to operate select rotations from its London Gatwick hub to each of Fuerteventura and Palma de Mallorca using its own "DI" flight numbers effective March 29 and April 24 respectively.

The carrier has also applied to the US Department of Transportation (DOT) for expedited exemption authority to allow it to commence transatlantic flights this summer.
