Wizz Air (W6, Budapest) has announced it will open its maiden base in the United Kingdom (UK) at London Luton during the upcoming summer season.

The Hungarian LCC said in a statement that effective June 18, 2017, it will use a single A320-200 to develop new destinations including Tel Aviv Ben Gurion, Israel, Pristina, the capital of Kosovo, and Kutaisi in Georgia. In addition, select flights on existing Romanian routes ex-London Luton will see an increase in their frequencies with Suceava to run 5x per week, Constanta 4x per week, and Iasi to operate daily.

"Establishing this base will strengthen Wizz Air's operational presence at London Luton Airport where it is already the second largest carrier, and increase the number of routes being served from the airport to 42," it said.
