AirMed International (MEJ, Birmingham, AL), a medical services carrier based out of Alabama, USA, has acquired fixed wing air ambulance company Air Medical, reports AIN Online.

"Strategically, this acquisition will allow AirMed International to serve growing requirements for critical care transport as we meet the needs of healthcare in the Texas region and enhance support for area military medical transports," AirMed president Denise Treadwell said.

AirMed operates its own modified fleet of Raytheon Hawker 800s, Beechjet 400s, British Aerospace 125s, and one LearJet 35A. The acquisition will allow it to expand its operations as it brings on board Air Medical's fleet of three Mitsubishi MU-300s and two Beech C90s (operated by Jet Center (San Antonio International)).
