First Nation Airways (Lagos) has suspended operations for a second time in six months airline management has confirmed.

First Nation's Director of Flight Operations, Chimara Imediegwu, told a press conference in Lagos this week that the suspension had been precipitated by the required use of Kaduna International Airport following the closure of Abuja Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport for runway repairs.

“We decided to take this step in order not to continue to fly for flying sake and spending scarce resources due to drop in the number of passengers flying to Kaduna," he was quoted by ThisDay.

He disputed as untrue, rumours claiming the suspension had really been triggered by a lack of serviceable aircraft, namely A319-100 5N-FNE (msn 660). “It is not true that we grounded our operations due to lack of flight crew or any other factors,” he said.

Imediegwu added that the airline was working to resume its operations on March 28.

First Nation Airways specializes in shuttle flights between Lagos, Abuja, and Port Harcourt Awolowo.
