KLM cityhopper (WA, Amsterdam Schiphol) has announced it will wet-lease two ARJ-85s from Irish ACMI/charter specialist CityJet (WX, Dublin International) to cover select services to the United Kingdom later this summer season.

In a statement issued April 5, the KLM Royal Dutch Airlines (KL, Amsterdam Schiphol) unit said the two quadjets would be deployed on flights between Amsterdam Schiphol and London City with effect from May 15. They will add four additional frequencies each weekday to the route.

“KLM has been a long term partner of CityJet in its operations from the Netherlands to London City Airport," Boet Kreiken, Managing Director of KLM Cityhopper, said. "After an absence of eight years, KLM commenced services from Amsterdam to London City in February with our E190 aircraft, currently operating four per weekday. With the new wet lease agreement, we will be able to increase our frequency into London City Airport, offering greater choice for our customers, and with our long-standing partner CityJet codesharing on all flights.” KLM will be offering a total of eight weekdaily flights between Amsterdam and London City and also use CityJet aircraft on flights from Amsterdam to Birmingham, GB, Hamburg Helmut Schmidt, Bordeaux Mérignac and Belfast City.

As part of the deal, CityJet will also place its code on KLM-operated services connecting Amsterdam to London City, Manchester International and Newcastle, GB.
