Compass Airlines (United States of America) (Minneapolis St. Paul International) has confirmed it will close its Minneapolis St. Paul International crew base by the end of the current year. The Washington-based capacity provider said in a press statement issued to local media that while its Minneapolis-based pilots, flight attendants and mechanics would be moved to the company's other crew bases at Seattle Tacoma International and Los Angeles International, its corporate office would remain in the Twin Cities.

"The majority of our flying is already on the West Coast, with the remainder of our Midwest flying scheduled to transition to the West Coast before the end of the year," Stacey Putnam Ross, a Compass spokeswoman, told the St. Paul Pioneer Press.

"As Minneapolis is not geographically situated to provide support to West Coast operations, we had to look at where it made sense for our crew members and mechanics to be based," the statement went on. "All Minneapolis pilots, flight attendants and mechanics will be given the opportunity to transfer to one of our other locations."

A unit of Trans States Airlines, Compass Airlines operates American Eagle services on behalf of American Airlines using twenty E175s and Delta Connection services on behalf of Delta Air Lines using thirty-six E175s and six E170s (heading to Republic Airlines).
