Summit Air Charters (SUT, Yellowknife) has announced that it will be opening an operating base at Calgary to support its growing footprint in Western Canada. The Canadian passenger charter specialist provides Fly-In, Fly-Out (FIFO) crew movement solutions to a number of mining clients in Canada’s north, using its fleet of Alberta-based jet and turboprop aircraft.

“Adding Calgary as an operational base will facilitate further growth into the southern markets not currently serviced by Summit Air and will help connect our jet fleet flights to Canada’s third largest airport and its network of national and international flights,” Paul McElligott, President of Summit Air and President & COO, Ledcor Resources and Transportation, said in a statement.

Summit Air currently operates a fleet of two ARJ-85s (both in service for First Air (Carp)), two ATR72-200s, two ATR 72-200(F)s, one DHC-6-200, two DHC-6-300s, and two Dash 8-300s. As previously reported, it took delivery of its maiden ARJ-100 in March. The aircraft has since been deployed into service for First Air.
