Viva Nepal Airways (Kathmandu) has been granted an Air Services Licence (ASL), valid for one year, from the Nepali government ahead of plans to begin operations later this year.

Quoting government officials, the Kathmandu Post reports the start-up has been allocated route authorities to connect Kathmandu with each of Delhi International, Doha Hamad International, Dubai International, Kuala Lumpur International, and Dhaka. It plans to bring in four B737-800s and two ATR72-500s to service the routes. Of the six aircraft, four B737s and two ATRs will be acquired outright with the remaining two ATR - Avions de Transport Régional turboprops leased.

The ASL in hand, Viva Nepal now needs to secure a No Objection Certificate (NOC) as well as an Air Operator's Certificate (AOC) from the country's aviation regulator.

Under its previous incarnation as Dynamic Airlines (Kathmandu), the carrier was granted an international licence in March 2010. However, it was revoked after Dynamic failed to bring in its aircraft within six months of acquiring it.
