American Airlines (AA, Dallas/Fort Worth) has firmed up options with Embraer (EMB, São José dos Campos Professor Urbano Ernesto Stumpf) for four E175s. According to the US carrier, the aircraft are part of a 2013 order placed with the Brazilian manufacturer for sixty firm E175 jets alongside options for another ninety of the type. These aircraft are scheduled to be delivered in November and December of this year.

Once delivered, the aircraft may be operated by wholly-owned regional subsidiaries or leased to third-party regional carriers which would operate the aircraft for American under its various capacity purchase arrangements.

According to the ch-aviation aircraft module, American has 138 EMB-175s operating under its American Eagle regional brand. Operators include Compass Airlines (United States of America), Envoy Air, and Republic Airlines.
