Cathay Pacific (CX, Hong Kong International) has signed an agreement with Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings for the wet-lease of two B747-8(F)s from its Atlas Air (5Y, New York JFK) unit.

AAWH said in a statement the new B747-8F service is scheduled to begin this month with the aircraft being deployed to supplement capacity on Cathay Pacific Cargo’s existing network.

“This agreement underscores the strength of our cargo operations and our commitment to enhance the frequency of our services across our expanding global network," Cathay Pacific Director Cargo Simon Large said. "We are very pleased to be able to provide our customers with increased options, flexibility, and convenience and look forward to developing a long-term partnership with Atlas Air Worldwide.”

Cathay Pacific Cargo currently operates one B747-400(BCF), six B747-400(ERF)s, and fourteen B747-8(F)s.
