Thai Airways International (TG, Bangkok Suvarnabhumi) has become the third Thai commercial carrier to complete its AOC recertification according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand's (CAAT) revised, ICAO-compliant standards.

"The success today should have significant impact not only on the company itself but also the overall confidence of passengers who plan to visit Thailand with Thai carriers," CAAT Director General Chula Sukmanop said in a statement.

The CAAT hopes to recertify Thailand's commercial carriers by June 2017 so that it can undergo an ICAO audit to address shortcomings identified during its 2015 Significant Safety Concern (SSD) finding. It is working with CAA International (CAAi), the advisory subsidiary of the UK Civil Aviation Authority, to implement improvements across the eight critical elements identified by ICAO to ensure an effective aviation security oversight system.

Bangkok Airways and Thai Air Asia have also successfully completed recertification. Still remaining in the first group are Thai AirAsia X, Nok Air, NokScoot, K-Mile Asia, Thai Smile and Orient Thai Airlines.
