Andes Líneas Aéreas (O4, Salta) has taken delivery of the first of two ex-Malaysia Airlines (MH, Kuala Lumpur International) B737-800s. The addition is part of its previously announced fleet renewal plans as it moves more into a low-cost carrier model.

The aircraft, registered LV-GWL (msn 30007), joins Andes' fleet of five MD-83s and one MD-88s. The older McDonnell Douglas aircraft are expected to be phased out, although the definite timeline is not known.

The Argentine carrier currently serves the domestic market, connecting Buenos Aires Jorge Newbery with Córdoba International, Jujuy, Mar del Plata, Mendoza International, Puerto Madryn and Salta, and Salta with Jujuy. It recently gained route authorities to add Rosario Islas Malvinas, Resistencia, Posadas, Iguazu, Tucumán, Santiago del Estero, Neuquén, San Carlos de Bariloche, Comodoro Rivadavia, El Calafate, and Ushuaia to its domestic network, as well as international destinations Santiago de Chile, Lima International and São Paulo Guarulhos.
