Malindo Air (Kuala Lumpur International) launched commercial B737-8 operations earlier today, May 22, operating the world's first B737 MAX 8 scheduled service from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore Changi.

Its first aircraft, 9M-LRC (msn 42985), arrived in Malaysia on May 18 and is on an operating lease from Avolon. The 180-seat single class aircraft will initially be deployed on routes from KLIA to Dhaka, Lahore International, Langkawi and Singapore's Changi airport according to Airline Route.

Malindo's narrowbody fleet also includes twenty-three B737-800s and six B737-900(ER)s, according to the ch-aviation fleet database.
