Thai Airways International (TG, Bangkok Suvarnabhumi) is in talks with Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) and Boeing (BOE, Washington National) over proposed replacements for up to thirty older aircraft the carrier's chairman Areepong Bhoocha-Oom has said.

Speaking to Bloomberg, Areepong said the carrier will seek Cabinet approval for the procurement plan by the end of July. While Thai's fleet of ten B747-400s will be phased out in the coming years, its six A380-800s, which average just over four years of age, will "remain a significant part of the company's fleet".

According to the ch-aviation aircraft database, of the numerous types Thai operates, the oldest include its fleet of six B777-200s (20.5 years of age), six B777-200(ER)s (10.3 years of age), and six B777-300s (17.7 years of age).
