LOT Polish Airlines (LO, Warsaw Chopin) has confirmed it will begin longhaul services out of the Hungarian capital of Budapest during the second quarter of next year.

The airport's press service said in a statement that effective May 3, 2018, the Polish carrier would offer 4x weekly direct return flights to New York JFK alongside a 2x weekly return service to Chicago O'Hare. Tickets are already on sale.

According to the ch-aviation route database, Air Canada (AC, Montréal Trudeau), through its Air Canada rouge (RV, Toronto Pearson) low-cost subsidiary, is the only carrier at present to connect Budapest and North America with a 5x weekly Toronto Pearson-Budapest return service.
